Internal Winch Flagpoles
$3,508.00 – $31,076.00Price range: $3,508.00 through $31,076.00
The Internal Winch Series is FlagCo’s standard commercial flagpole for schools, government facilities, and corporate campuses that need reliable flag display without exposed hardware. An internal hand-crank winch raises and lowers the flag entirely from inside a ground-level access door, keeping the exterior shaft clean and eliminating vandalism exposure on the halyard system. Available in 20 ft through 80 ft heights, with published wind ratings per NAAMM FP 1001-07 for every configuration.
Why the Internal Winch Series?
The premium internal halyard solution for commercial properties that need security, a clean appearance, and the strength to handle heights up to 80 feet.
Tamper-Resistant by Design
The stainless steel cable halyard runs inside the pole and is reached only through a locking access door at the base. The winch has an auto-locking brake and a removable hand crank, so the flag cannot be lowered without authorization. A strong fit for schools, government buildings, and high-visibility commercial sites.
Sleek, Professional Appearance
No visible rope, no external halyard, no cleat on the shaft. The clean exterior makes the Internal Winch Series the preferred choice for architectural and high-profile commercial applications where appearance matters as much as function.
Built for Reliability
The internal halyard assembly includes a plastic-coated counterweight, beaded retainer ring, and stainless steel swivel flagsnaps. The revolving truck turns on sealed stainless steel ball bearings. Flags 8'×12' and larger include a heavy-duty shock spring assembly to protect against snap loads in high wind.
Available to 80 Feet
The Internal Winch Series covers the full commercial height range, 20' through 80', making it the tallest internal halyard option we offer. Poles with a 10"+ bottom diameter use a larger cast aluminum revolving truck and heavy-duty stainless steel flagsnaps.

Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between external and internal halyard?
An external halyard runs the rope on the outside of the pole and ties off to a cleat at the base. It is simple to use and maintain. An internal halyard runs inside the pole behind a locking access door, so the flag cannot be lowered or tampered with. The Internal Winch Series uses a concealed wire cable halyard and a mechanical winch with an auto-locking brake.
What wind speed can these flagpoles withstand?
It depends on the configuration. For example, a 25′ pole with a 6″ butt diameter and 0.156″ wall is rated for 114 mph with a flag flying, while the same height with a 0.188″ wall handles 128 mph with flag. Our 20′ pole with a 5″ butt and 0.188″ wall is rated 125 mph with flag. See the configuration table above for the exact rating of every SKU, and contact us if you need help matching your local building code.
Do I need a foundation? What's included?
Yes. Commercial flagpoles require a concrete foundation. Every pole ships with a galvanized corrugated steel ground sleeve and a grounding spike. Set depth is 10% of the exposed height, from 2′ for a 20′ pole up to 8′ for an 80′ pole. Many customers hire a local contractor to pour the foundation.
How long does shipping take?
Internal Winch poles have a production lead time of 5 business days in standard finishes (Clear, Bronze, Black), counted from order confirmation and deposit. Custom, powder coat and other anodized finishes are confirmed at the time of order. After production, standard LTL freight typically takes 2 to 4 weeks. An expedited dedicated truck (1 to 3 days) and same-day local delivery within a 4-hour drive of Acworth, GA are also available. Call 800-962-0956 for freight options and cost to your address, or see our Standard Lead Times page.
What size flag should I fly?
Each configuration lists a recommended flag size in the table above. As a guide for this series: 20′ flies a 4′×6′, 25′ a 5′×8′, 30′ to 35′ a 6′×10′, 40′ to 45′ an 8′×12′, 50′ a 10′×15′, 60′ to 70′ a 12′×18′, and 80′ a 15′×25′.
What's the difference between 1-section and 2-section poles?
A 1-section pole is a single continuous shaft. Multi-section poles ship in pieces that sleeve together on site, which makes delivery and installation easier on taller poles. In this series, 20′ and 25′ are 1-section, 30′ and 35′ come in 1 or 2 sections, 40′ and 45′ are 2-section, and 50′ to 80′ are 3-section. Wind ratings are the same for the 1 and 2-section versions of the same configuration.
