Why the External Halyard Illuminator?
A commercial flagpole and a FlagCo Beacon sold as one matched package, so your flag stays lit after dark without a separate ground light to aim or maintain.
Light From the Top, Aimed at the Flag
The Beacon mounts at the top of the pole in place of the standard truck and ornament, and shines down on the flag. It revolves 359° to follow the flag as the wind shifts, so there is no ground spotlight to aim or reposition. The pole and beacon ship together as a matched package, and the beacon is installed on site when the pole goes up.
Fly the Flag Day and Night
The U.S. Flag Code (4 U.S.C. §6) says the flag may be displayed 24 hours a day when it is properly illuminated during the hours of darkness. The Illuminator makes that easy. Choose 120V AC for a hardwired connection, or 12V DC for solar, where the light turns on at dusk and off at dawn by itself.
External Halyard, Simple to Use
The flag is raised and lowered with an external rope halyard tied off to a 9" cleat at the base. No access door, no key and no winch, so anyone on your staff can handle flag changes.
Commercial-Grade Pole and Beacon
The shaft is 6063-T6 extruded aluminum (ASTM B221) with wind ratings per ANSI/NAAMM FP 1001-07, the same as our full commercial line. The Beacon has a die-cast aluminum, powder-coated housing, a 3000K warm white LED array rated for at least 50,000 hours, and a tempered glass lens. It is Intertek (ETL) listed.

How does the Illuminator work, and how is the beacon installed?

Should I choose 120V AC or solar?
Can I fly the American flag at night with this pole?
What wind speed can these flagpoles withstand, and what size flag can I fly?
It depends on the height, butt diameter and wall thickness. For example, a 25′ pole with a 6″ butt is rated 168 mph with a flag in 0.188″ wall and 197 mph in 0.250″ wall. A 40′ pole with an 8″ butt and 0.188″ wall is rated 123 mph with a flag. The table above lists the rating with and without a flag, and the recommended flag size, for every configuration: 4′ x 6′ on 20′, 5′ x 8′ on 25′, 6′ x 10′ on 30′ and 35′, and 8′ x 12′ on 40′. Do I need a foundation? What's included?
Yes. These poles are set in a concrete foundation. Every pole ships with a 16-gauge hot dip galvanized steel ground sleeve with a grounding spike and a 1/4″ steel base plate with a 1/4″ steel support plate. Set depth is 10% of the exposed height: 2′ for a 20′ pole, 2.5′ for 25′, 3′ for 30′, 3.5′ for 35′ and 4′ for 40′. For 120V AC poles, plan the conduit entry and electrical rough-in before the foundation is poured. We send ground sleeve installation instructions that show where the conduit comes in.
How long does shipping take?
Beacons have a production lead time of 15 business days from order confirmation and deposit. After production, standard LTL freight typically takes 2 to 4 weeks. An expedited dedicated truck (1 to 3 days) and same-day local delivery within a 4-hour drive of Acworth, GA are also available.
